Punishments Due to Account Sharing
Mar 02 2005 CEST
ecently, many accounts of Tibia players have been banished or deleted due to account sharing. Unfortunately, we had to find out that several high level players who are well-known throughout the community are among the players found guilty. These players have been punished severely because they have cheated excessively. The cheaters did share their accounts to gain an unfair advantage over players who play by the rules. You surely understand that we had to stop finally the worst cheaters to avoid further damage on the community.
All hints on rule violations are evaluated and serious hints trigger an investigation. All cases are carefully examined. Some of the punished account sharers claim that our judgement is just based on the fact that they sometimes play with friends in a LAN. Of course, this is not true and we are very well capable to distinguish between an account sharer and somebody who just plays from different locations or in a LAN. Furthermore, rest assured that there is no favoritism inside CipSoft. CipSoft is a company that stays out of arguments of players and keeps neutral at all times.
We reject the accusation made by some players that CipSoft uses illegal means to gather information about players. To offer our game service it is necessary to collect some data. You can be assured that we do not use any data we are not allowed to use. Of course, these data about our players are treated with the utmost discretion.
For general questions concerning the handling of banishments you can consult the following documents: The
Tibia Service Agreement, the
Extended Tibia Service Agreement, manual chapter about
rule enforcement and the
Tibia Rules.
In the Tibia Rules, all players are asked to behave in a reasonable and friendly manner. This also applies for public statements, in game and on the boards. Of course, players have a right to express their opinion freely as long as they follow the Tibia Rules. Statements that are only made to instigate the community are not in the terms of the Tibia Rules. We reserve the right to moderate all public statements made by players that are against this code of conduct.
Our motivation for monitoring registered players is to provide a fair game for the community. The banished players have gained advantages in game using unfair means and have effected the community negatively. We are trying to offer the best service as possible for our customers. We strongly disapprove of cheating and we will continue to take measures against it determinedly.
Kind regards,
Your CipSoft Team
